No-exam life insurance

Applicants eligible for fast-track underwriting, what the process entails, and what occurs when you don't qualify.

Many insurers provide fast-track underwriting: applicants meeting age and amount requirements get decisions based on your application, medication records, driving history, and other information, without a medical exam. Approvals sometimes arrive within hours. Each quote shown here indicates if an exam is needed, might be needed, or is not needed.

What it changes

Omitting an exam does not bypass underwriting review. Your responses will be checked, and coverage provided based on false information may be cancelled within the first two years. Should the carrier's records prompt concerns, it may still order an exam or laboratory tests; you decide then whether to proceed.

Who tends to qualify

Candidates are generally under about 60, requesting coverage up to the carrier's expedited underwriting threshold, with no significant medical history and no recent nicotine use. Recent lab results from a doctor's visit may substitute for a fresh exam at some carriers.

Should one be needed, expect a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a qualified examiner at your residence or workplace in Carson, provided at no charge to you. For applicants in good health, exam findings often result in a superior rate classification, making the exam potentially beneficial.
